Join us for a series of events in Portland, Oregon honoring bestselling author Roger Hobbs. Hobbs gained international acclaim for his crime novels Ghostman and Vanishing Games, and was working on a sequel before his tragic death last year.  His family and friends invite you to honor his memory by taking part in the following Hobbsian activities.

 

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2017

11 am

Memorial Tree Planting at Reed College

Reed College plants a Davidia involucrata or “ghost tree” on the campus. Join us for an informal gathering where we share some poetry, stories and memories. LOCATION: Near Sholtz dorm. Park in West Parking Lot and walk to the South entrance of the dorm.

4 pm

Podcast Recording: Sharing Memories 

In advance of the gathering, friends, fans and family write about experiences with Roger Hobbs. All are welcome to use this Google Doc to contribute a memory or a story. We gather to read aloud these memories and talk informally about what made him so special. Audio recording coordinated by Seattle author Adam Fuller. LOCATION: PAB Room 332. Park in West Parking Lot. Building 21: Performing Arts Building.

Table Read of “Not Another Divine Comedy”

Listen aloud to Roger’s award-winning one-act play about a boy who encounters death (and Dante) in the Philadelphia subway. LOCATION: PAB Room 332

12 pm

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

“Let’s do the time warp again!” Love and grief join together in Roger’s honor as we enjoy audience participation and play as we view the classic film. LOCATION: 2522 SE Clinton Street
